Taking Action...How We Are Changing the World

Here are some ways that Aina Haina students are making a difference in the world

Adopt a Village -
Sri Lanka

From 2012 - 2017, we helped a village in Sri Lanka, Nallathanniya obtain a filtered water system and better education for their children.  We also exchanged pictures with the villagers.

This was a five year project with local business Eden in Love.  We donated a portion of our Fall Festival and Book Fair proceeds to this cause.

Lemm Elementary (Texas)

Lemm Elementary School in Texas was badly damaged from flooding from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017.  Their school library lost the entire collection and the building was rebuilt.

Read an article that our 5th graders wrote explaining how we supported this school through our Fall Festival and Book Fair fundraisers.

Aina Haina Public Library Book Donations

In April 2018, our community experienced heavy rains that caused flooding to some of our families and community partners.

The Aina Haina Public Library temporarily closed to fix damages from the flooding.  We celebrated its re-opening in 2019 by donating six books from the 2020 Nene Nominee list.

Mahalo to our community partner the Koko Head Lions Club for sponsoring the lollipop game at our Book Fair which raised the money to buy the new books.

Grade 5 Student - Led Action Project

Our fifth grade class of 2019 thought about causes and issues that hurt their hearts.  We used Fall Festival 2018 money and the lollipop game money from our Book Fairs to support three causes:  animal abuse, cancer, and child abuse.  Click "Learn More" to see what they did.

Mahalo to our community partner the Koko Head Lions Club for sponsoring the lollipop game and providing manpower to make this possible.
